Yesterday morning kicked off the first official day of
Project Common Bond 2012—we welcomed over 75 participants from 14 different
countries with an Opening Ceremony in the French Student Center here at
Governor’s Academy in Byfield, Massachusetts.
Veteran participants and new members of the PCB family came
together to celebrate the start of another exciting year of common bond
activities—upcoming this week we have courses focusing on the Dignity Model
curriculum familiar to those who participated last year, the new Peace in
Action curriculum—in which participants will focus on creating projects and
methods of peace-building to bring home to their local communities—as well as a
variety of creative and fun elective courses, team-building activities and much
more.
Monday will bring a very special on-site workshop by
facilitators from the US Institute of Peace and Tuesday is a very busy day of
tourism, fun and adventure in Boston. The World Café activity, in which a graphic
artist illustrates the ideas, words and thoughts of participants surrounding a
particular topic takes place on Wednesday night, and the much anticipated Peace
Games and Talent Show will both take place on Thursday. The week will wrap up
with a Culmination Ceremony on Friday morning before biding ‘adieu’ to our
friends, new and old, made here at Project Common Bond.
Be sure to check here daily for day-to-day blog posts,
photos, videos, and more! Also—participants, facilitators, and staff—don’t
forget to post your own photos and stories to the Tuesday’s Children facebook page, and remember to join the conversation and tweet @TuesdaysChldrn with the
hashtag #CommonBond.
